Navakiranam Project: Voluntary Relocation Project

The Kerala Forest Department’s Navakiranam Project, is one of the prime projects of the State Government under the Rebuild Kerala Initiative. Launched on November 14, 2019, Navakiranam empowers voluntary relocation of non-tribal families residing within forests. The project addresses key challenges such as human-wildlife conflict, natural disasters, limited access to amenities etc.

Benefits for eligible families:

  • Relocation support of ₹15 lakh for families with land up to 2 hectares.
  • Opportunities for sub-unit allocation for resident applicants based on project guidelines.
  • Livelihood training programs for resident applicants to equip beneficiaries with new skills for improved future prospects.

The project has been implemented across 27 Forest Divisions in Kerala and has been met with positive response from applicants seeking a brighter future for themselves and their families.
